LOOK! THOSE ARE MY NAILS!
About a week ago I stress-raged all over the place and bit all my nails off because school was being a wee bit overwhelming. And since it’s winter and the circulation in my fingers is practically nonexistant, my nails fail at growing right now. So I had to find something pretty to do that didn’t require a whole lot of surface area, and this is what happened!
My left hand looks better than my right, but both of them look pretty damn good, I’m not even going to lie. Even with my shakey hands, this was super easy, since I have a fancy-pantsy dotting tool now (purchased from Sally Beauty, view it here: http://www.sallybeauty.com/nail-art-brush/SBS-698250,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH. It’s actually the same one NellaBellaBoo has! WE’RE TWINSIES).
Seriously, having a dotting tool is EXCELLENT.
Colors used:
Base Color (the one I’m holding): Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Slick Slate. I absolutely love Sally Hansen Insta-Dri nail polishes, because they dry quickly, and you really only need one coat, which is excellent if you’re doing nail art like this where you don’t want to spend a whole lot of time on the base color. The White Insta-Dri is also great if you’re going to do water marbling, because it makes the colors really pop and again you only need one coat. I mean, I probably could have put on two coats, because there are some spots that seem a little thin, but because of the design on top, you can’t see it at all.
Pink Dots: Ulta Fuchsiamania. I actually got this nail polish back in 2010 for Christmas from Ben’s grandparents (which was completely and totally random), and I don’t use it very often, but since the other pink I tried to use (I think it was Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition Hi-Res, which is nice and shimmery, but not very opaque at all) kept disappearing over this relatively dark base, I decided to give Fuchsias;dfaser a chance. It still didn’t stand out as much as I would have liked, and looks kind of reddish against the Slate color, but I still like it, so go team.
Orangeish dots: Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Snappy Sorbet. This one was another second-string nail polish, because the orange I tried to use first (oddly enough it was another Sally Hansen HD polish, one that I’m too lazy to look up right now) was wayyy too sheer. So even though Snappy Sorbet isn’t as orange as I wanted it (I wanted the orange to end all oranges. Not semi-salmon orange.), I still love the way it looks here.
Yellow dots: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow. I guess I’m just a Sally Hansen fangirl right now. Anyway, this yellow is an excellent yellow, as it’s nice and sunny and doesn’t make you look like you have jaundice when you wear it. I had to redo some of the dots, just because I wanted the Yellow to be really bright, but even before I redid the dots, they looked really good.
Green dots: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Green With Envy. Again, not as neon green as I would have liked, but the one neon green I have (that’s actually Shannon’s and not mine) is A) a matte polish and B) is really stupid and sheer and doesn’t show up on dark colors. So the green dots look a little like yellow from far away, but whatever, I still love it.
Blue dots: Zoya Tallulah. Ahh! The first (and only) non Sally Hansen! Again, would have liked it brighter, but I just love Tallulah so much. ;alsdkfjaoseir I’m a Zoya fangirl mad hardcore, not going to lie. Tallulah has just the right amount of shimmer to it, and is still almost completely opaque in 1-2 coats, which is great.
Purple dots: Sally Hansen HD Cyber. Yup! This one actually worked! Though it might just be because this nail polish is kind of old-ish, and at this point is pretty thick, so it doesn’t go on sheer like a lot of the other HD colors I’ve got. I hate the name of the nail polish though, it sounds….icky. ANYWAY this color is pretty and I love it.
So there you go! Yay nails!
